India was fined 5% of match fee for exceeding the minimum over rate by 1 over and West India was fined 10% of match fee for exceeding the minimum over rate by 2 over.

India – West Indies slap fine by ICC

Emirates ICC elite match umpire Richie Richardson ruled that the teams of Hardik Pandya and Rovman Powell were out of the first and second overs respectively, given the time limit, and sanctioned them.

Under Article 2.22 of the Code of Conduct for ICC Players and Players Staff on Violation of Minimum Over Short Charges, if a team fails to bowl within the allotted time, the player will be fined 5% of his match fee, his 50% of the game fee is capped.

Chasing the target of 150 runs, the Indian team got off to a bad start. The team lost the wicket of Shubman Gill in the third over itself. The young Indian side was seen struggling to score runs. After this Suryakumar smashed some big shots.

But Ishaan Kishan was caught out in the 5th over. Ishaan could only score 6 runs in 9 balls. After this there was a 39-run partnership for the third wicket between Suryakumar and Tilak Verma. Although Suryakumar returned to the pavilion after scoring 21 runs in 21 balls.

Tilak Varma impressive debut

After some time Tilak Verma was dismissed on a personal score of 39. Tilak was the highest run scorer for India. Hardik and Samson handled the innings but both were dismissed in the same over. Hardik was clean bowled after scoring 19 runs, while Sanju was run out after scoring 12 runs in 12 balls.

After this, Akshar Patel tried to win but got out after scoring 13 runs. Coming in last, Arshdeep raised hopes of victory by scoring 12 runs in 7 balls but the team had to face defeat by 4 runs.
