New Delhi: Mumbai Indians’ (MI) middle order batter Tilak Varma earned his maiden call for India on Wednesday. The Board of Control Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-men squad for T20 series against West Indies. Suryakumar Yadav, who hold the position of vice-captain in the squad, congratulated his MI’s teammate.

Reacting to Varma’s inclusion in the T20 squad, Suryakumar Yadav wrote on Twitter, “Congratulations on your maiden T20I call up Tilak Varma. So happy and excited for you.”

Tilak Varma emerged as one of the most exciting young talent in the Indian premier League (IPL) 2023. He accumulated 343 runs from 11 outings at an average of 42.87. The left-hand batter had to sat down for five league matches due to his shoulder injury.
The 20-year-old southpaw made his comeback in the squad scoring 26 and 43 in the Eliminator and Qualifier 2, respectively.
Suryakumar Yadav was the run gather for the Mumbai camp this season. The stylish middle order batter scored 605 runs from 16 outings at an average of 43.21.
