Shubman Gill & Ishan Kishan give India perfect start
Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill opened the innings to give the match a solid start. But the batting order collapsed like a house of cards when the first wicket Gill fell. India lost five wickets in ten overs, putting pressure on the lower tier, but there wasn’t much they could do either.
India were limited to 180 all-outs in 40.5 overs by the West Indies bowling attack. Ishan Kishan has had a consistent record with the India team, being the team’s top scorer in both ODIs. He scored 55 on 55 pitches, while Gill underlined 34 on 49 pitches. The match was called off when Suryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja took the arch against India at 113/5 due to rain.
They showed a temporary comeback by adding 33 runs to the board, but the West Indies regained control and took the last five wickets for 35 runs. The West Indies bowlers handled the ball brilliantly. Gudakesh Motie and Romario Sheppard took three wickets each, conceding just 36 runs in 9.5 overs and 37 in 8 overs respectively.
India’s batting collapse
Alzarri joseph also had the ball, taking two wickets and missing 35 runs in seven overs. Suryakumar Yadav was the only hitter with 20 or more run, along with openers Gil and Kishan. The collapse of the striking side showed just how fragile the Indian team is without captain Rohit Sharma and hitter Virat Kohli.
