Mukesh Kumar’s ODI debut

Indian fast bowler Mukesh Kumar is making his ODI debut for India in this match. On this tour, he played his first match for India in the Test series. Now after the Test, he has got a chance to debut in ODIs as well. He was given India’s ODI cap before the match.

India vs West Indies ODI comparison

Team India had supremacy over the West Indies in ODIs, just like Tests. Windies last won an ODI series against India in 2006. Since then India have won 12 consecutive ODI series against the Windies. Now his target will be the 13th ODI series in a row.

Virat Kohli factor

With the World Cup just a few months away, the ODI series with the West Indies is part of the preparation process. Before the first ODI, Kohli confronted Pandya on the net, making strange gestures while tapping the net.

Suryakumar Yadav’s form is major concern

Suryakumar Yadav will be aiming to improve his ODI form, while Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson are likely to audition for wicket-keeper slot. Suryakumar was unable to replicate his superhuman T20 form at the ODI, but the absence of the injured Shreyas Ayer was able to secure his fourth position.

Playing XI of India vs West Indies

West Indies: Shai Hope (wk/c), Kyle Mayers, Brandon King, Alyque Athanaj, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Romario Shepherd, Yannick Kariya, Dominic Drakes, Jaden Seales, Gudakesh Motti.

India: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Umran Malik, Mukesh Kumar.
