New Delhi: As Rohit Sharma-led team India are gearing up to face West Indies for Test series staring from July 12. This is the first Test match since 2017 at Windsor Park that Caribean Island will host and fifth overall.
Virat turns back clock
India’s batter Virat Kohli goes back in time and remembered when India played their last Test match at the Dominica in July 2011. Interestingly, India was the first team that played the match at the Stadium.
Virat shares post with Dravid
Virat Kohli is the only player in the current team’s squad, who was the part of the 2011 squad. Actually, along with Virat, Indian team head coach Rahul Dravid was a senior member of the squad back then and Kohli acknowledged that with a post on his social media handles.
“The only two guys part of the last test we played at Dominica in 2011. Never imagined the journey would bring us back here in different capacities. Highly grateful,” Kohli says in the post alongwith an image with Dravid at the stadium.
The two were on opposite point of the their career at the time, Rahul Dravid was the senior member while, Virat Kohli just made his debut for team India in the longest format of the game.

IND vs WI 2011 highlights
The West Indies led by former all-rounder Darren Sammy, batted first and went all out for 204. Ishant Sharma then picked up 5-wicket haul. Then India’s skipper MS Dhoni was the highest scorer among the Indian cricketers, he gather 133-ball 74 as India posted 347.
West Indies posted 322 in their second innings curtesy to centuries from batting great Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Kirk Edwards, thus setting a 180-run target for India to chase in just over a session on the last day. India fought hard but in the settled for a draw. Rahul Dravid fell for just 5 runs and Virat Kohli scored 30 in the first innings and didn’t bat in the second.

After 12-year, Virat has another chance to revive his Test career at the same venue where he debuted for India. After the failure in World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 against Australia, West Indies will be perfect opponent to start fresh.
Against the West Indies, Kohli has scored 822 runs overall at an average of 43.26, including two centuries and five half-centuries. However, his record in the Caribbean is below par compared to the high standards he has set for himself.
