IND vs WI: 1st Day recap
However, India got back on track and eventually finished the first day 4 for 288 without losing a wicket. It revived the visiting side with an unbeaten record of 106 runs, thanks to Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja.
Kohli’s innings
The former India captain started the second round with 161-87 points and aims to become the first player to score the goal of the century in his 500th cap. Kohli showed remarkable resilience against the West Indies’ beefed-up offense, quietly completing a half-century record with 97 pitches.
It was India’s second straight 50-plus win in the series against the West Indies after scoring 76 in an inning win in first Test match in Dominica last week. And in the process, he overtook South African legend Jacques Kallis to become the fifth highest run-getter in international cricket.
Fanboy moment for Joshua da Silva
During his 161-ball stint in the goal area on the first day, Kohli had an interesting conversation with West Indies wicketkeeper Joshua da Silva, part of which went viral on social media and received many mentions on Thursday and Friday.
In one of them, the penultimate of the third session, Kohli was challenged by Joshua to reach 100. Then Kohli asked, “Are you into my milestones?” He replied, “I know, I want you to score 100,” Kohli smiled and left.
Joshua Da Silva – get your 100, Virat.
Virat Kohli – you're obsessed with my milestones?!
