IND vs WI 2nd Test, Day-2: India head into Day 2 of the second Test firmly in control after a dominant batting display on the opening day. Opting to bat first on what looked a true surface, the Indian openers laid a solid platform by negotiating the early movement with caution. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal ensured a risk-free first hour, putting on a steady half-century stand before Rahul fell for 38, stumped off Gudakesh Warrican’s very first over – the only early success for the visitors.
That brought debutant Sai Sudharsan to the crease, and together with Jaiswal, the left-handed duo took charge of the innings. Initially watchful before lunch, Jaiswal shifted gears impressively in the second session to bring up his seventh Test century — a mark of his growing stature in red-ball cricket. Sudharsan, too, impressed with elegant strokeplay and composure beyond his years, reaching his second Test fifty. A missed chance off his bat on 58 — dropped by Warrican off Greaves — proved costly as the pair went on to add a mammoth 193-run stand.
The third session saw a slowdown in scoring due to more disciplined lines from the West Indies bowlers. Warrican eventually broke the partnership by trapping Sudharsan lbw for a well-made 87. Captain Shubman Gill played a measured knock, mixing defense with calculated aggression, including a couple of slog-sweeps off Khary Pierre. At the other end, Jaiswal remained unbeaten, notching up his fifth 150+ score in Test cricket, oozing confidence and hunger for more.
While Warrican turned the ball significantly — registering 8.4 and 6.4 degrees of spin for his two wickets — those moments were isolated as India’s batters handled the spin threat well overall. The West Indies attack, though economical at times, failed to sustain enough pressure or capitalize on the few chances created.
Heading into Day 2, India will look to extend their dominance with Jaiswal eyeing a double hundred and Gill aiming to convert his start. With plenty of batting still to come and a strong platform already laid, India will hope to post a massive first-innings total. The West Indies, on the other hand, will need early breakthroughs and sharper fielding if they are to claw their way back into this contest.

India have declared. A dominant batting display after opting to bat. Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scored with 175 and his innings was cut short courtesy a run-out. Gill, who was largely defensive yesterday, batted fluently today to notch up his 10th Test century. Sai Sudharsan missed his maiden Test hundred by 13 runs yesterday while the likes of NKR and Jurel batted at a brisk pace today to take India's total over 500.
India showed more intent this morning but lost a couple of wickets in the process. After 26 overs, the score stands at 109 for 2. Jaiswal was run out early in the session after adding just 2 runs to his overnight total. Gill, who finished day one on 20 off 67 balls, took a more positive approach and reached his fifty off 95 deliveries. Nitish Reddy was promoted up the order, survived a close call on 20, but unfortunately got out just 7 runs short of his fifty. While West Indies have conceded runs, they’ve also created more chances than yesterday. The big question remains — will India declare once Gill reaches his hundred? We’ll find out soon. "It looks like a 3rd/4th day pitch. Because of the wear and tear, it's a very dry surface, but I still think it will be good for batting. The spinners have a chance of using their conditions to their advantage, and that is something that I'd like to see the West Indian spinners do. Try to use the rough areas as their guide to pitch the ball into those areas, to bring those variabilities of bounce. The other end has more grass. Naturally, you would think that captains will operate their pace bowlers because the grass layer is more intense. The surface has a couple of bare spots and bowlers could probably get variability in terms of pace, and maybe bounce too. So, there's enough in that pitch to keep bowlers interested."

Definitely, I wasn't thinking about getting runs, so I was a bit more free, expressed myself, took time rather than rushing things. I didn't try to make things happen. India dominated Day 1 of the 2nd Test, reaching 312/2 thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s unbeaten 157 and a 193-run stand with Sai Sudharsan. Despite early success from Warrican, West Indies couldn’t maintain pressure. India will look to build a massive first-innings total on Day 2.
