On August 7, Sri Lanka defeated India by 110 runs in the third ODI at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first, setting a target of 248/7. Although India started well with Rohit Sharma scoring boundaries, their innings fell apart. Sri Lankan spinner Dunith Wellalage took out key Indian players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav. India was all out for just 138 in 26.1 overs. As Sri Lanka won their first ODI series against India since 1997, cricket fans began trolling head coach Gautam Gambhir on social media.

Rohit Sharma and his team will face England in a three-match ODI series in February 2025. The games will be held at three different locations in India. The first ODI is on February 6 at VCA Stadium in Maharashtra, the second on February 9 at Barabati Stadium in Odisha, and the final match on February 12 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat.
