With Team India preparing to take on South Africa in the 2nd Test at Cape Town, the team has been dealt with another body blow as pacer Shardul Thakur was hit by a delivery while batting during India’s net session.
With Team India already missing the services of Mohammed Shami due to injury, Shardul’s injury could prove to be a big blow for the team.
The severity of the blow to Shardul is still not confirmed and will be checked during further scans. However, Shardul was seen batting even after getting hit in training.
Shardul Thakur picked the ever important wicket of South Africa’s centurion Dean Elgar whose 185 in the 1st Test proved to be the a match winning knock for The Proteas.

However, the bowling all-rounder did not get successful in terms of wickets afterwards which eventually saw the home side put up 408 runs on the board.
Avesh Khan was added to the Indian squad to replace the injured Mohammed Shami for the Test series. Avesh could possibly be included in the matchday eleven if Shardul is not declared fit for the match.
With the Indian pacers receiving a lot of criticism after India’s humiliating loss in the 1st Test, the onus will be on the bowlers yet again as they look to change things around in Cape Town and level the 2-match Test series in order to avoid another series defeat against The Proteas.
