Historic Feat!
India is the first Full Member Nation to have two Centurions in the same T20I. This incredible feat marks the first time a Full Member country has had two centurions in the same men’s T20I innings. This is only the third time ever that this has happened in the history of men’s T20I cricket.
Here’s a cursory look at the earlier instances:
May 2022: Czech Republic’s Sabawoon Davizi (115) and Dylan Steyn (106) put up a match-winning partnership against Bulgaria.
Feb 2024: Lachlan Yamamoto-Lake of Japan scores his 2nd T20I* century with a career-best 134* and puts on 258 runs with Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming (109*) against China, breaking the record for highest partnership in men’s T20I cricket.
Women’s T20I Cricket: Five Times Multi-Century Posting
While rare in men’s T20I cricket, multi-centuries have been put on by more than two persons five times in women’s T20I cricket. Some of the notable ones are as follows:
Bangladesh became the first Full Member to achieve this feat in 2019, while Uganda shared the glory earlier that year. Qatar achieved this feat in 2022 while Argentina achieved this feat twice in 2023 against Chile.
