IND vs SA 3rd ODI Match Report: India couldn’t have asked for a more convincing finish to the ODI series. Led by a sensational maiden ODI century from Yashasvi Jaiswal and fluent half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the hosts chased down 271 with absolute ease, wrapping up the game in just 39.5 overs and clinching the series 2-1.
South Africa had posted a competitive 270, thanks largely to a blazing Quinton de Kock century-106 off 89, but the Indian top order made the target look far too small.
A match-winning effort! 👌

Rohit Reaches 20,000 Runs, Jaiswal Steps Into the Spotlight
The chase couldn’t have gotten off to a smoother start. What stuck out from the outset was that South Africa once again leaked extras, seven wides in just the first over from Marco Jansen. Rohit and Jaiswal settled in nicely with minimal risk, bringing up the fifty stand inside the 11th over.
Rohit, who’s now active only in ODI cricket, played another classy knock of 75 off 73 balls and crossed a historic milestone of 20,000 international runs, becoming only the fourth Indian to do that after Tendulkar, Kohli, and Dravid.
He reached his half-century off 54 balls, a stylish and assured effort until he fell to a slog sweep.
At the other end, Yashasvi Jaiswal took his time early on but switched gears beautifully. His innings was a tale of two halves, steady at the start, electric towards the end. The maiden ODI fifty came up in 75 balls, after which he launched a series of clean hits, especially against spin and Jansen’s short balls.
He scored his maiden ODI hundred in 111 balls and became India’s sixth all-format centurion.
Kohli Finishes the Job in Style
Virat Kohli then walked out with the crowd erupting as India were 155/1, and he didn’t disappoint at all. The highest run-scorer of the series continued his dream form, striking a polished unbeaten 65 off just 45 balls, filled with classical strokes, crisp pulls and a massive straight six.
Jaiswal and Kohli stitched a free-flowing 100-run stand in only 78 balls, thus demolishing any hopes South Africa had. Kohli fittingly finished the match with two superb boundaries, thereby sealing a domineering win.
Clinical India-Promising Signs Ahead
This was one of the most complete ODI batting performances for India since the 2023 World Cup. A young opener scoring a maiden ton, a captain hitting a milestone-filled knock and a modern-day great dominating yet again, everything clicked at the right time.
With the New Zealand series coming up next in January, India carries strong momentum, and the emergence of Jaiswal as a reliable ODI option adds an exciting layer to the team’s top-order combination.
