Lucknow: India player Shreyas Iyer has hit a half-century in the first ODI against South Africa at the much needed time of the game. 

The visitors put 249 runs on board in their innings of 40 overs. Quinton de Kock scored 48 runs while Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller made unbeaten 74 and 75 runs respectively. 

Team India came on the ground to chase the target of 250 runs and did not have a good start as they lost early wickets of the openers. Shikhar Dhawan (4) and Subhuman Gill (3) departed early within 5 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad then followed the openers for 19 runs. Ishan Kishan came on the field but couldn’t make more than 20 runs.

Shreyas Iyer then steadied the game and hit a half-century off 37 deliveries.
