With Team India playing their first One Day International (ODI) since their World Cup final loss against Australia, Indian bowlers went beast mode and dismantled the South African batting line-up right from the start.
It was as if South Africa had left their batting gloves in the dressing room. The home side lost both opener Reeza Hendricks and Rassie van der Dussen on a collective total of 0 runs with back-to-back wickets within the first over courtesy of Arshdeep Singh’s lethal deliveries.

The pacer continued to breathe fire as he went on to dismiss opener Tony de Zorzi (28), Heinrich Klaasen and Andile Phehlukwayo to complete his fifer on the day.
Avesh Khan supported Arshdeep from the other end who sent skipper Aiden Markram (12) and Wiaan Mulder (0) back to the pavilion, with The Proteas struggling at 52/6 within 11 overs.
The 27-year-old pacer went on to dismiss the big hitting David Miller and Keshav Maharaj as well, taking his tally to 4 wickets on the day with South Africa 73/8 within at 16.1 overs.
India switching to ODI mode
Team India came into the match after a 3-match T20I Series against South Africa which ended as a 1-1 draw after the first match getting abandoned due to rain. The series saw Rinku Singh make his maiden T20I half century in the 2nd T20I which eventually went in vain because of Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram’s match winning knocks.
However, Team India came back from the defeat in the 3rd T20I with skipper Suryakumar Yadav scoring his record equaling 4th T20I hundred and Kuldeep Yadav taking a fifer for the Men in Blue.
