IND vs PAK: India Women continued their dominant run in the 2025 Women’s World Cup with a convincing win over arch-rivals Pakistan, sealing their second consecutive victory of the tournament. On the flip side, Pakistan slumped to their second defeat in a row, and while the contest had its moments, the result was never truly in doubt.

The tone was set early and emphatically by India’s new-ball duo, Renuka Singh and Kranti Gaud, who were simply unplayable in the first spell. Renuka, in particular, was on fire, bowling eight straight overs up front, swinging and seaming the ball both ways. The Pakistani top order looked tentative, often clueless, as deliveries jagged off the pitch and beat the bat consistently. It was classic new-ball mayhem, and Pakistan never really recovered from it.
Despite the early carnage, one batter stood tall: Sidra Amin. Fresh off a good series against South Africa, she showed character, composure, and class. Finding the boundary with authority, Sidra absorbed the pressure and anchored the innings when all seemed lost. Her partnership with Natalia Pervaiz briefly steadied Pakistan’s ship and even gave them a flicker of hope.
But as is often the case in big games, one moment can change the momentum. That moment came when Pervaiz fell trying to force the pace, and the partnership was broken. From there, India’s bowlers kept things tight, and Sidra’s wicket sealed Pakistan’s fate. She deserved more support, but it never came.
While India will be pleased with the result, it wasn’t a flawless outing. Richa Ghosh had a forgettable day behind the stumps, dropping crucial chances and letting a few go by. The team also missed a couple of review opportunities – especially a plumb LBW early on that could have added to Pakistan’s woes. These are areas India will want to tighten up as the tournament progresses.
Still, the positives far outweighed the negatives. Kranti Gaud continued her stellar tournament with key breakthroughs, Sneh Rana and Deepti Sharma chipped in with wickets at crucial stages, and the fielding, though inconsistent, was sharp when it mattered.
With this win, India once again showed why they are considered one of the favorites to lift the trophy. Pakistan, on the other hand, have some serious introspection to do. Their batting unit, barring Sidra Amin, looks out of sorts, and unless they find answers quickly, a semifinal spot might drift out of reach.
