Ind vs Pak Asia Cup 2025 Final- A fresh controversy erupted during the final match of the Asia Cup 2025 between India and Pakistan on Sunday, as Pakistan’s fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf were caught on camera chatting during the Indian national anthem. The incident has ignited a wave of backlash while the high-stakes match is still underway. The moment sparked outrage among fans, many of whom took to X to express their anger. Netizens have claimed that the Pakistani players showed disrespect during a highly sensitive occasion.
Here’s what Shaheen and Haris did
The two teams had lined up for their national anthems after the toss, with Pakistan’s anthem played first, followed by India’s. While most players stood respectfully in silence, cameras captured Pakistan pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf engaging in conversation during the Indian anthem, a moment that quickly went viral on social media. The incident drew sharp criticism from fans, many of whom labelled the behaviour “disrespectful.”
Notably, both Shaheen and Haris have a history of getting involved in unnecessary controversies.
During the previous clash in the Super 4 stage, both Shaheen and Haris had been involved in fiery on-field confrontations with Indian openers Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma. Haris Rauf was even fined by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for making controversial gestures during that encounter.
