According to a recent reports, the Indian cricket team management is considering resting one batter and one bowler for the fifth Test match against England in Dharamsala, starting on March 7, as part of workload management. Following India’s series-clinching victory in the Ranchi Test, there’s a desire to give some key players a break. However, the report didn’t specify which players are being considered for rest. Additionally, it mentioned that Jasprit Bumrah is likely to return to the playing XI after being rested for the fourth Test in Ranchi, with an eye on the T20 World Cup.

KL Rahul has been absent from the last three Test matches due to injury. Cricbuzz reported that he might also miss the final game in Dharamsala. Rahul hasn’t fully recovered from the quadriceps injury sustained in the first Test, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sent him to London for further assessment by specialists.

Despite being reportedly ’90 per cent’ fit for the third Test, the team management and National Cricket Academy (NCA) decided to reevaluate his condition. Rahul was initially included in the squad for the final three matches of the series, with his availability dependent on his recovery. With India already leading the series 3-1, selectors might opt to give him more time to recuperate, considering the upcoming T20 World Cup.
