According to a report in the Times of India, there’s a strong possibility that Dhruv Jurel, the talented wicketkeeper-batter from Uttar Pradesh, might make his Test debut in the upcoming match against England in Rajkot.
The selectors and team management seem to have lost faith in KS Bharat, who has struggled with the bat, averaging just 20.09 in his seven Test appearances. Despite his continued poor form, Bharat was surprisingly retained in the squad for the last three Tests.

The decision-makers don’t see any problem in experimenting with another wicketkeeping option during the ongoing Test series, considering that both Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan are expected to return for future assignments, and KL Rahul is designated as an overseas alternative. While Dhruv Jurel may or may not be the long-term solution to the wicketkeeping issues, the selectors seem willing to explore different options given the availability of other talented players for upcoming matches.
Jurel, who has impressed in domestic and India A cricket, is now likely to replace Bharat in the playing XI. With the series tied at 1-1, Jurel’s inclusion could provide a much-needed boost to the Indian batting lineup, which is currently lacking experience.
Jurel boasts an impressive average of 46.47 in first-class cricket and is known for his reliable wicketkeeping skills in the longer format of the game.
