The third ODI of the three-match series between India and England is currently underway in Ahmedabad. Virat Kohli scored a half-century in this match. He was dismissed for 52 runs off 55 balls, including seven fours and one six. Leg-spinner Adil Rashid had him caught by wicketkeeper Phil Salt. Before getting out, Virat was playing brilliantly and seemed to be heading towards a century, but Rashid’s delivery took the edge of his bat and went to the wicketkeeper. This was the fifth time Rashid dismissed him in ODIs.

Kohli’s record against Rashid in ODIs hasn’t been particularly impressive. In this format, he has been dismissed five times by Rashid in 10 innings. During this period, Virat has faced 130 balls from Rashid and scored 112 runs, with an average of 22.40 and a strike rate of 86.15. Not just Rashid, but since 2024, Kohli’s record against leg-spinners in ODIs hasn’t been great. During this period, he has faced 40 balls against leg-spin in four innings, scoring 26 runs and getting dismissed four times.
Kohli’s First ODI Fifty in 451 Days
Kohli scored a 50+ score in ODIs after 451 days or approximately 15 months. His previous half-century came against Australia during the 2023 ODI World Cup, where he scored 54 runs. Since then, in five innings, he has scored – 52 (today), 5, 20, 14, and 24 runs. In ODI cricket, Kohli has now scored 13,963 runs in 297 matches at an average of 57.94, including 50 centuries and 73 half-centuries. Virat missed the first ODI of the series due to injury. In two ODIs, he has scored 57 runs at an average of 28.50. In the previous match, he was dismissed for five runs.

Shubman Gill Scores Brilliant Century
In the Ahmedabad ODI, besides Virat, Rohit Sharma scored one run while Shubman Gill played a brilliant innings of 112 runs. This was Gill’s seventh ODI century. He hit 14 fours and three sixes in his 102-ball innings. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer scored 78 runs off 64 balls with eight fours and two sixes before returning to the pavilion. India has already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in this series. India won both ODIs in Nagpur and Cuttack by four wickets each.
