Hardik Pandya Steers IND To 196/5 vs BAN
Put to bat first, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli provided India with a solid start in the powerplay. Although Rohit Sharma was dismissed after scoring 23 runs, Virat Kohli overcame his previous poor performances to score a well-crafted 37 runs.
Rishabh Pant contributed significantly with a rapid 36 off 24 balls. Suryakumar Yadav, after hitting a six on his first delivery, was dismissed cheaply.
Tansim Hasan Sakib spearheaded the bowling attack with 2 wickets, aiming to limit India to a manageable total for Bangladesh to secure their first Super 8 win.
Ultimately, Hardik Pandya emerged as the top scorer, remaining unbeaten on 50 runs. This helped India post a formidable total of 196/5 in their 20 overs, keeping their 100% record intact in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Team India Bag 2nd Super 8 Win
In reply, Bangladesh openers tried their best to put up an opening partnership but failed to do so as both Litton Das and Tanzin Hasan were dismissed at a collective total of just 42 runs.
Skipper Najmul Shanto was top-scored for the Bangla Tigers on the night with 40 runs as Bangladesh was restricted at just 146/8 on the day with the Indian bowlers winning the battle in the 2nd innings.
Rishad Hossain’s 24-run cameo made the gap a little smaller but proved to be ineffective on the day.
Kuldeep Yadav, who was recently picked in the starting eleven proved to be lethal for the Indians as he ended his spell with 3 wickets followed by Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh by 2 on the night. Hardik Pandya also managed to pick one wicket each for him.
Team India will now face Australia in the final Super 8 clash at St. Lucia on June 24th.
