New Delhi: India’s middle-order batter, Shreyas Iyer, did not come to bat at his position after Cheteshwar Pujara was dismissed on Day 3 of the fourth Test match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, instead of him, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was promoted.
Shreyas Iyer suffers lower back pain
On Day 4 also wicket-keeper batter, KS Bharat joined hands with Virat Kohli in place of Iyer. Now, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has provided an update on Shreyas Iyer. The 28-year-old has picked up lower back pain and has been taken for scans.

BCCI reveals reason
“Shreyas Iyer complained of pain in his lower back following the third day’s play. He has gone for scans and the BCCI Medical Team is monitoring him,” the BCCI said in a statement.
However, the BCCI did not make it clear whether he will come out to bat or not. Previously, Iyer had also missed the first Test in Nagpur due to a back issue before returning for the second game in Delhi.

Virat Kohli century
Talking about the game, Virat Kohli reached his first Test century in 3.5 years, Virat is currently batting on 183 off 349 balls. All-rounder Axar Patel also scored his half-century. The left-hander was removed by Mitchell Starc, he departed after 79 runs.
Shubman Gill: Rising star
On Day 3, Shubman Gill who came as the replacement of KL Rahul, scored his 2nd Test century. The 23-year-old batter, hit 12 fours and one big six in a good show of batting to surpass his previous Test best of 110. He built key partnerships including a 113-run stand for the second wicket with Cheteshwar Pujara, who made 42.
