New Delhi: India’s batting superstar Virat Kohli smashed an astonishing century on the Day 3 of the fourth and final Test match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

The 34-year-old batter, who resumed his innings at 59 off 128 balls on Sunday, scored his brilliant 28th Test hundred in 241 balls with a single off Nathan Lyon’s delivery. His masterclass innings include five boundaries.

Day 4 match details
India ended their Day 3 trailing by 191 runs, with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja throwing his wicket early. KS Bharat and Virat Kohli then stitched the partnership of important 84 runs. Bharat, then departed after well-made 44 runs off 88 delivery. His innings included two fours and three maximum.

Finally ends Test century wait
India’s run machine Virat Kohli has ended the wait of 3.5 years to earn another century and finally swinging his bat in the air with a sense of victory. Kohli finally achieved the feat for the first time since a match against Bangladesh in November 2019.

Second most international century
This is Virat’s 75 international hundred, he is just behind Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar in terms of centuries. Earlier this year, Virat became the fastest batter to record 25,000 runs in International cricket during India’s second Test against Australia. He created the record in 492 innings and overtook Sachin Tendulkar by 28 innings (577 inns) to become the fastest ever to the feat.
With an unbeaten 79-run stand, Kohli and Axar Patel chased down Australia’s lead and India equalled a huge total of 480 runs. Earlier in the game, Shubman Gill scored a memorable Test century. He was removed by Nathan Lyon after well-accomplished 128 runs on 235 balls.
