New Delhi: After smashing consecutive big hits on the first day of the 3rd Test in Indore, India pacer Umesh Yadav turned out to be the host’s secret weapon in bowling on day 2 against Australia.

Anil Kumble has the most Test wickets in India (350) while R Ashwin (329) has the second most Test wickets at home.
Indian pacer to take 100 plus Test wickets at home:
- Kapil Dev – 219 wickets
- Javagal Srinath – 108 wickets
- Zaheer Khan – 104 wickets
- Ishant Sharma – 104 wickets
- Umesh Yadav – 101 wickets
Australia dominates first half
Earlier in the day, Australian batters Peter Handscomb and Cameron Green showed immense calibre against the Indian spin duo of R Ashwin and R Jadeja in the first half of the game. The two added 30 runs, showcasing incredible discipline against spin as Australia went from 156 for 4 to 186 for 4 at the drinks break.
However, India skipper Rohit Sharma made two changes in the bowling line-up when he brought R Ashwin and Umesh Yadav into the attack. Ashwin got Peter Handscomb as he got caught at the short leg.
Umesh picks up Green
In the next over, Umesh Yadav picked up all-rounder Cameroon Green. After that Umesh exploited reverse swing and sent Mitchell Starc’s stumps flying. Starc would have been handy with the bat with his big-hitting ability but Umesh got the ball to reverse and uproot the off-stump.
Umesh was at it again when he got Todd Murphy out bowled for 0, while Ashwin wiped out the tail, picking up the wicket of Nathan Lyon and wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey.
