In Smith talk with the media ahead of his side’s ICC Champions Trophy semifinal on Monday, he mentioned his team’s strategy despite India have more familiarity about Dubai set-up. Smith Dismisses India’s Perceived Home Advantage In Dubai
Steve Smith put to rest the narrative of India playing all their matches in Dubai, which is seen as a perceived advantage for them. India gives this too much of an advantage, many think but Smith still wasn’t sure. “I don’t know if I have a message, quite frankly. Just go out and play hoping we can give a good performance. India have played all their games here so are on the inside knowledge of the surface. I mean, from where I’m sitting it shouldn’t be an advantage at all really” He said, indicating concern for their standards rather than outside variables.
Smith on Dry Pitch Conditions And India’s Strong Form
When it comes to the pitch, Smith said the field was on a bit of a dry end with so much running about in the tournament. “Pitch is so dry, I spoke to groundsman and said he got about a game and a half under his belt,” he noted. Dhawan lauded the in-form Indian side but considers it would be a hard game. “India played very well in their games to date It will be another great cricket match, we are excited about it.” said Root pointing towards the vital semi-final.
