The habitual pitch invader, Jarvo, invaded the field of play, ahead of the much-anticipated ODI World Cup 2023 match between India and Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday.
Sporting a ‘Jarvo 69’ Indian jersey, the Englishman managed to breach the security at the stadium and enter the field. He ran on to the pitch to join the Indian team players who were busy taking their fielding positions.
In the pictures, which have gone viral on social media, Jarvo was seen interacting with Virat Kohli before the Indian captain asked him to leave the ground and the pitch invader was led away by the security officials.

Who is Jarvo ?
Jarvo calls himself a prankster and his pitch invasion in Chennai was most certainly not his first instance.
He had previously interrupted the Test matches between England and India in 2021 and was lifted off by the security officials back then. Jarvo was also charged with aggravated trespass in October last year for colliding with English cricketer Jonny Bairstow as he tried to bowl at the stumps.
Jarvo is known as Daniel Jarvis on social media and also has a YouTube account with the name bmwjarvo. So, he probably invades the pitch again and again to gain views on his social media platform.
Match situation
Coming to the match, Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first against hosts India. But, his decision backfired as India has managed to take wickets at the regular intervals and set to bowl out Australia on a below par target.
For India, young opener Shubman Gill is not playing this game as he hasn’t recovered from his illness till now and left-handed wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan will open the innings with skipper Rohit Sharma in India’s ODI World Cup campaign opener.
