New Delhi: India captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave India a strong start on the second day after Australia were folded for 480 in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rohit and Gill 36 run partnership

On Day 3, both the opener will look forward to carrying the momentum of the Indian team and putting up a strong partnership. Skipper Rohit Sharma (17)* and Shubman Gill (18)* build up a partnership of 36 runs at the stumps of the second day.

R Ashwin’s record in Tests

Earlier in the game, Ashwin scalped 6-wickets and registered his name in the history book. The 36-year-old bowler became the most 5-wicket holder for India in Test at home.

R Ashwin scalped 6-wickets and removed all the important batters of Australia. He first removed Travis Head on the first day of the Test. On the second day, he went on scalping Cameron Green (114), Alex Carey (0), Mitchell Starc (6), Nathan Lyon (34) and Todd Murphy (41).

Pacer Mohammed Shami got 2 wickets, while Axar Patel bagged Usman Khawaja’s wickets and Jadeja removed captain Steve Smith.

For Australia, Usman Khawaja was the top scorer with 180 runs. All-rounder Cameron Green also brought up his stylish century. After that, Todd Murphy and Nathan Lyon established the 50-runs partnership and pushed Australia over 450.
