New Delhi: India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scripted history as he became the second Indian after the World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev to complete a double of 500 wickets and 5000 runs in international cricket on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old reached this milestone on the first day of the 3rd Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Holkar Stadium in Indore.

Jadeja strikes early
Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Australia opener Travis Head in the fourth ball of his first over to complete the 500 international wickets.
Jadeja Test career
This is another feather in the jadeja’s decorated career. He is showing fine form against Australia after returning from an injury. Jadeja has played in a total of 63 Tests, 171 ODIs and 64 T20Is for India, in which he has so far scored 2623, 2447 and 457 runs respectively.
Kapil Dev 1st India to achieve this feat
Earlier, world champion captain Kapil Dev had achieved this feat. Kapil, a fast bowler, took 687 wickets in 356 international matches at an average of 28.83. On the other hand, he scored 9,031 runs with the bat.
Meanwhile, Jadeja has achieved this feat of 500 wickets along with 5,000 runs in 298 international matches. He has scored more than 5,500 runs.
Earlier in the match, left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemman claimed his first five-wicket haul as Australia bowled out India for 109 on day one of the third Test.
