We are done with two test matches for the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 edition. Now what’s hot in the discussion is the Gabba Test. What is to be expected in Brisbane? The third test match is in focus now which is to take place from 14 December 2024. The series is tied at 1-1 and the Gabba Test holds a lot of importance.
The pictures of the Gabba Pitch are going viral and we can make out that the pitch is a lot greener. The grass covering on the ground looks even. If one may compare it with the Wimbledon surface, it would not be unreasonable, that is how much green this surface is. But this will not be the case for this coming Saturday, the grass will be trimmed and the surface would be a lot leaner. But what does this green top signifies and what else you can expect at the Gabba? The pitch curator David Sandurski has given a bit of an insight as to how the teams should prepare for the upcoming match and what is it that they can expect.

“Different times of year definitely makes it different, it can be a slightly different pitch. Pitches later in the season might have a bit more wear and tear while ones early in the season usually are a bit fresher and might have a bit more in them. Generally speaking, we still prepare the pitch the exact same way every time to try and get the same good carry, pace and bounce that the Gabba is known for. We are just trying to make a traditional Gabba wicket like we do each year,” he said.
In the last BGT edition in 2021, the Gabba Test was the 4th Test. India 329 for 7 (Gill 91, Pant 89*, Pujara 56, Cummins 4-55) and 336 beat Australia 369 and 294 by three wickets in the match, creating history by becoming the only team to defeat the Kangaroos in Gabba in the last 32 years.
