New Delhi: As per a media report, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided not to take any risk with Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Seeing this as a World Cup year, Bumrah as been given rest from Test series against Australia.

The report stated that with the focus on the spin in the ongoing Test match between India and Australia, Bumrah will be given more time to recover as he may not be able to get through the workload of a five-day game.

He is currently at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru as he rehabilitates from his back injury.

The 28-years old bowler as been out of action for the last 6 months due to his back injury. He was named in the squad against Sri Lanka, but was called off due to stiffness.

Bumrah has recovered from injury

Now at NCA, Bumrah has fully recovered but at rehab he will have more time to prepare himself for the World Cup. He is reportedly bowling full tilt and working on his skills with the white ball. A rest from the Border Gavaskar Trophy gives him more time for rehabilitation.

Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma put India in control

Team India dominated the first day of the Test match as bowlers led attack by comeback hero Ravindra Jadeja. Indian bowler stopped Australia for a paltry 177 after the visitors chose to bat first at Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. Jadeja scalped five-wicket haul.

On the second day, captain Rohit Sharma played the heroic knock and ended his one-and a-half years Test hundred drought. Rohit departed after scroring 120 runs, he was bowled out by Australian skipper Pat Cummins.

In the Bumrah’s absence, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami will lead the Indian pace attack.
