The Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma is back from paternity leave and was seen coming at number six right after his arrival for the Adelaide Test with the pink ball. There were speculations about his playing position in the second test but he has shown a sense of security and confidence in his openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul who played a 201 run partnership and gave India a strong stance to hold on to. But with the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal on the first ball itself raises many eyebrows about the decision of the Team management and that of the skipper’s as well.

“How I came to that decision of batting down the order is because we want results, we want success, and those two guys at the top – just looking at this one Test match – they batted brilliantly. I was at home with my newborn in my arms and I was watching how KL batted. It was brilliant to watch, to be honest and I felt that there’s no need to change that now. Maybe in the future things will be different, I don’t know. So based on what has happened and what KL has shown outside of India, he probably deserves that place at this point. It is something that has given us success in the first Test. To have that big partnership with Jaiswal on the other side probably won us the Test.” Rohit Sharma said in the press conference.
Rohit Sharma batting at number 6 for India could potentially bring a fresh dynamic to the team’s lineup. Known for his elegant stroke play and ability to anchor innings, his experience in all formats of the game could provide a stabilizing influence in the middle order. At number 6, Rohit could play a crucial role in guiding the team through tricky situations, especially in long formats like Test. His adaptability and the ability to accelerate in the latter stages of the innings would also allow India to maximize their batting depth. Moreover, with his temperament and vast experience in high-pressure situations, Rohit’s presence in the lower middle order could help provide much-needed solidity, whether it’s to rescue a collapsing innings or finish strongly. This move could make India’s batting lineup more flexible and balanced, offering them additional options for both attack and stability.
