Everyone was frustrated with today’s rain delays int he Border Gavaskar Trophy’s Third test in Brisbane. A total of six rain delays has led to the third day of the Gabba test loss of momentum for both India and Australia. But it seems like the fans have manifested the rain today in Gabba as well as the proceeding days. This has turned out to be a ‘Blessing In Disguised’ for the Indian fans.
On the beginning of the third day, Australia put a massive total on the board of 445. This was not enough when early wickets of Jaiswal, Gill and Kohli fell and with it fell yearnings of many Indian fans. But the came with few hopes as if the third Test between India and Australia is completely washed out, both teams will receive four points each. This will marginally adjust their points – India will reach 110 points with a Percentage of Championship (PCT) of 55.88, while Australia will touch 106 points with a PCT of 58.89. Despite these point changes, their current standings will remain unchanged, with India in third and Australia in second place.

India can secure their place in the third consecutive World Test Championship final through multiple strategic paths. The most straightforward route involves securing one draw and two wins in their remaining three matches, including the Brisbane Test. This approach would elevate India’s PCT to 60.53%, virtually guaranteeing at least a second-place finish behind South Africa. Even if Australia wins both their remaining matches against Sri Lanka, they would still remain at third-place and finish with 57.02% PCT. This can turn out to be optimal scenario for India to qualify for the WTC finals.
