Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has endorsed the inclusion of two uncapped Indian fast bowlers that would provide immense support to Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj in the renowned Border-Gavaskar trophy against Australia. Rohit Sharma led Team India will be playing a two-day pink ball warm-up match.

Mohammed Shami will be making a comeback after a long-injury break since the ODI World Cup 2023, he’ll be accompanied by Jasprit Bumrah to enhance the pace attack for Team India. While there is a stir whether the marquee players will be taking part in domestic cricket by playing Duleep trophy, India will also be preparing to host Bangladesh for two-Test series from 19 September.

“If Bumrah, Shami and Siraj stay fit and are able to play most of the series, India have a great opportunity for a hat-trick down under. Arshdeep could bring the left arm option. And Mayank Yadav dark horse provided he’s fit and available. #AUSvIND,” Jaffer mentioned.

Jaffer even provided his take on giving chance to young pacer Mayank Yadav, a fast bowler who created a buzz after his sensational bowling for Lucknow Super Giants in India Premier League (IPL) 2024. He clocked a speed of 155kph and picked 3 wickets for 27 in his debut match against Punjab Kings, but he was ruled out of IPL due to an injury. Arshdeep Singh was another pacer who was in Wasim Jaffer’s list who could play for Team India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Arshdeep has played 54 T20Is and 8 ODIs but is still looking forward to his Test debut.
