New Delhi: Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja along with team management went to ICC match refree Andy Pycroft, and told him that he was applying pain-relief ointment on his index finger. The video went viral on social media on the first day of the Nagpur Test against Australia.
Siraj gives ointment to Jadeja
In the viral video, Jadeja was seen taking a substance back from seamer Mohammed Siraj’s palm into his hand, and latter applied to his left hand index finger, his bowling hand, just before his bowling.
The incident took place when Australia were 120 for 5, by which time Jadeja had already dismissed Marnus Labuschagne, Matt Renshaw and Steven Smith.

Team India meet match refree
After the end of first day, Jadeja along with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, and team management met refree Andy Pycroft, and they were shown the video clip. It was clear that Jadeja was not tampering the ball, and the star spinner was given clean chit.
The video was talking point all over the social media, it is learned that the Australia team had not brought the matter to the attention of the match referee. According to the playing conditions, the match referee can independently probe such incidents without needing a complaint to be lodged. And under the Laws of Cricket, the bowler needs the umpire’s permission to apply any sort of substance on their hands to ensure the condition of the ball remains unaffected.
Jadeja successful comeback
Ravindra Jadeja made a impressive comeback to the international cricket, after 5 month injury break. On the first day of Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Jadeja showed his magic and successfully destroyed the Australian middle-order. He first dismissed Labuschagne and Renshaw off successive deliveries, before picking up the wickets of Smith, Todd Murphy and Peter Handscomb. He finished with 5 for 47, as Australia were dismissed for 177 in their first innings in Nagpur.
