New Delhi: Ravichandran Ashwin picked up a haul of five wickets against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday. Ashwin reached the figure after removing Tod Murphy for 41 from the pitch.

Axar Patel bags Khawaja’s wicket
Earlier in the day, Australia posted 409/7 at Tea and were eight wickets down in the post-Tea session on Day 2. Axar Patel struck after tea to send back Usman Khawaja, who slammed 180 runs in 422 delivery.
Ashwin’s magical spell
In the post-lunch session, Cameron Green was the first one to return to the pavilion. Green was removed by Ashwin, who also bagged the wickets of Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc. On Day 1, Ashwin was the first bowler to strike against Australia as he removed Travis Head.

Usman Khawaja anchored the Aussies’ innings on the Day 1 of the match. He scored 104 off 251 balls but it was Green who was the aggressor by far in the partnership. The all-rounder scored 49 runs in just 64 balls.
For India, Mohammed Shami scalped 2 wickets while Ravichandran Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin bagged one wicket apiece.
