IND vs AUS 2nd Test: Nathan McSweeney And Marnus Labuschagne Push India On Back After End Of Day 1

The Australian team has pushed the Indian team on the back foot during the IND vs AUS 2nd Test Day 1. Australian batters Marnus Labuschagne and Nathan McSweeney put the pressure back on India.

Australia ended the Day 1 of IND vs AUS 2nd Test in a commanding position. The Aussies scored 86 runs for the loss of one wicket and trail by 94 runs in reply of Team India’s first innings score. Australian batters Marnus Labuschagne and Nathan McSweeney batted brilliantly against the Indian bowlers and walked back to the dressing with a positive intent. On the other hand, the Indian team will feel some pressure as they will walk on Day 2 of the match. Team India currently lead the five-match series by a margin of 1-0.

Nathan McSweeney And Marnus Labuschagne Put Aussies In Control

The start of the day 1 wasn’t good for the Indian team as they lost Yashasvi Jaiswal on the very first ball of the match. The left-handed Indian batter was trapped in front by Mitchell Starc. KL Rahul and Shubman Gill came in for Team India’s rescue wherein both the players put up a stand of 69 runs from 113 balls for the second wicket. However, Team India’s happiness was short lived as KL Rahul was dismissed by Starc and was followed by the wicket of Virat Kohli. Shubman Gill also had a lapse of confidence and was trapped in front by Scott Boland.

Rohit Sharma also couldn’t do much as Scott Boland picked up his second wicket of the match. Rishabh Pant tried to build a partnership with Nitish Kumar Reddy when both the batters added 22 runs from 42 balls. Pant was dismissed by Pat Cummins followed by the wicket of Ravichandran Ashwin. Reddy showcased a lot of braveness after seven wickets fell and took on the Australian bowlers. In the end, the Indian team was wrapped up for 180 runs wherein Nitish Kumar Reddy top scored with a score of 42 runs from 54 balls.

While the Australian team came out to bat, Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney put up a stand of 24 runs. Khawaja was dismissed by Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah and it looked like they will push back the Australian team. However, the pressure came down when Marnus Labuschagne and Nathan McSweeney batted together. Now, Team India will look to dismiss both batters early and make a comeback on Day 2.
