New Delhi: With only three days left for four matches Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia. The first Test match will be played from February 9 in Nagpur. Australia’s veteran Shane Watson has given a special piece of advice to the Australian batter ahead of the series.
Watson warns right-hand batters
Australian all-rounder, Shane Watson figured out that Jadeja targets the stumps more often, which makes him tough to deal with. Watson gave advice to the batters and especially right-hand batters. Among right-handers, the Aussies have Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith in their ranks.
Steve Smith is in terrific form, he is also the leading run-scorer when both teams met last time on Indian soil. Watson Watson advised the Aussie right-handers to not just look to survive, but also score runs off Jadeja, not allowing the left-arm spinner to go in the flow.
While talking with ESPNcricinfo, Watson said, “Facing him when the ball is turning compared to when the ball is not turning is just chalk and cheese. It’s like you’re facing a different bowler when the ball is turning because he’s flatter, he’s faster, he’s accurate all the time. He’s always at the stumps.”
“One will turn or one will skid through. He’s very hard to be able to work through as a right-hander, to find a method that’s going to not just survive but also score runs,” he stated.
“Obviously, Australia has got some really good players of spin in there with Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne. They’ve got a number of lefties as well, which will negate Jadeja a bit more with the ball just turning in. If I had my time again, I would definitely play with a straighter bat to Jadeja,” Watson added.
Jadeja picked 25 wickets in 2017 BGT edition
In the 2017 edition of BGT, India won by 2-1. India had lost the first match of the series and after that, they went on winning. In that series Jadeja played the key role, he was the leading wicket-taker for India with 25 wickets and didn’t let Australia take away the four-match series.
