Team IND Post 181/7 vs AFG
Opting to bat first, openers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli began cautiously on a slow pitch that has already seen several 200+ totals this year.
Skipper Rohit Sharma couldn’t make a significant impact and was dismissed for just 8 runs on a scorching day in Barbados. Rishabh Pant, who showed brief aggression, was also sent back by skipper Rashid Khan after scoring 20 runs off 11 balls.
Rashid Khan then removed the struggling Virat Kohli, who managed a run-a-ball 24 and also took the wicket of Shivam Dube. Kohli’s ongoing struggles in the tournament have led the team management to question his role as an opener.
Rashid Khan was instrumental for Afghanistan, claiming 3 wickets in his first three overs.
Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya were left to anchor the innings and push the team to a competitive total.
Fazalhaq Farooqi also excelled, taking 3 wickets and restricting the scoring in the final overs.
Suryakumar Yadav scored a brilliant 53 off 28 balls, while Hardik Pandya added a valuable 32 runs, helping Team India reach a respectable total of 181/7 in their 20 overs.
IND Bowlers Dominate Proceedings
In reply, Afghan openers Hazratullah Zazai and Rahmanullah Gurbaz couldn’t give the team a good start in the chase.
It was Azmatullah Zazai who ended up as the top scorer with 26 runs on the night as Indian bowlers went beast mode on the night.
Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets followed by Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav who picked 2 scalps each. Spinners ran riot as both Jadeja and Axar got one each as well as Afghanistan got restricted to just 134.
India remained unbeaten in the tournament as bowlers once again stepped up for the side.
