Afghanistan’s Star spinner Rashid Khan has been ruled out of India’s T20I series starting from January 11.
A lower-back surgery a couple of months ago had ruled the 25-year-old leg-spinner out of the recent T20I series against the United Arab Emirates and the Big Bash League due. Now, even as he is on path to recovery, questions linger over his availability in the three-match T20I series against India, beginning here on Thursday. Meanwhile, as reported by Sportstar, Afghanistan’s captain Ibrahim Zadran has confirmed changes regarding Rashid, who was initially part of the 19-member squad for an upcoming series.

“He is not totally fit. We will miss him in the series. We will miss him in the series. We will struggle without Rashid but one should be ready for any kind of situation” Zadran said.
With Rashid’s absence, Afghanistan will rely on Mohammad Nabi, Qais Ahmed, and Noor Ahmad to manage the spin department for the series. It’s crucial for Afghanistan that their experienced bowler recuperates in time for the T20 World Cup scheduled between June 1 and June 29, set to take place in the West Indies and the USA later this year.
