India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is fit and raring to go after a recovery period, now awaits a chance to regain his slot for Test cricket ahead of the two-match series against Bangladesh, scheduled to begin on September 19. The spin attack, which boasts R Ashwin, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav, has in this context to look towards Jadeja, whose expertise can be crucial as the three players above are not exactly known for being prolific finishers.

Jadeja Targets 300 Test Wickets
At present, Jadeja has 294 wickets from 72 Tests and maintains an impressive average of 24.13. At this stage, the 31-year-old can well and truly consider all but insurmountable chances of becoming the seventh Indian bowler to cross the crucial 300 Test wickets barrier. To his credit, in the all-time Indian rankings, he trails only behind legends like Anil Kumble (619), R Ashwin (516), Kapil Dev (434), Harbhajan Singh (417), Ishant Sharma (311) and Zaheer Khan (311).
A Prestigious Double
It will also be considered an elite feat to reach the 300-wicket mark among Indian all-rounders. He would, thus join just two other players on the list, namely Kapil Dev with 5,248 runs and R Ashwin with 3,309 runs. Jadeja has so far scored 3,036 runs at an average of 36.14.
Climbing The Home Wickets Chart!
Jadeja, who is already placed at number five in the category of most wickets by an Indian in Tests played at home, could add the sixth spot with 213 scalps in India at an impressive average of 20.86. He is likely to overtake Kapil Dev, who has 219 wickets, and jump a few steps up the ladder.
With the series approaching, one would keep an eye on Jadeja as he eyes history and strengthens India’s bowling ranks against Bangladesh.
