Stephanie McMahon was laughing to reveal her actual status with WWE. Over the past 25 years, Stephanie McMahon has occupied many roles in WWE, either on camera or off camera. The daughter of the former Chairman Vince McMahon and the wife of the present WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque are not portraying any particular character in the company.
Stephanie McMahon’s legacy as a performer and powerful backstage leader
Characteristically, Stephanie was generally a villainous and dominant person; however, she had some good matches with the greatest wrestlers in WWE history, such as Trish Stratus, Brie Bella, Ronda Rousey, and even her father, Vince. One of these matches took place at WWE No Mercy 2003, which was just a week before Stephanie’s marriage to Triple H, and is discussed in detail.
Unseen by the public, Stephanie was performing various tasks, one of which was the head of the creative team under Vince McMahon throughout most of the 2000s. Stephanie also held a position of power within the company and was named WWE Chairwoman after Vince “retired” in July 2022, until his early 2023 comeback.
Stephanie McMahon confirms she is no longer a WWE employee
In the past years, big events like WrestleMania witnessed Stephanie being used as the one to greet the audience, thus raising speculation regarding her being given a particular position in WWE. However, it looks like the speculation is incorrect. On the recent episode of her What’s Your Story podcast with comic Andrew Schulz, Stephanie McMahon revealed a ribbon on her left hand.
“Do you see what this is? This is my all access ribbon because I’m no longer an employee.” (Laughs)
Stephanie McMahon reflects on her WWE status
It implies that Stephanie McMahon is not a WWE staff member, even though she is a regular podcaster for the company and has been in different positions over the years. In Starbucks’ podcast interview on John Cena’s legacy at WWE, Stephanie McMahon confessed that she was not convinced by the “hustle, loyalty, and respect” style of Cena, however, it proved to be a major success. At that time, she was part of the WWE creative team and thus had a very unique view on the issue.
Stephanie McMahon Statement
“It’s a special gift that some people have, and it’s very few people have the ability to connect with the audience the way that John did. And I have to say, he started off as the Doctor of Thuganomics as a heel, but then he turned baby face, and then he was the grossest baby face of all time.
You know, hustle, loyalty, respect, just, you know, I mean. I like the heels. And I would feel like it was too much, you know? And I thought at some point, this isn’t gonna work. This isn’t gonna work. He’s too much that way. He’s too strongly that way. We need to pull him back a little bit.
But he proved me wrong on countless occasions, and he really stayed true to himself and his character and who he believed he was for so long. And I think that’s part of it because he believed so strongly that the audience believed with him.”
