Virat Kohli IPL: Whenever there is a talk about IPL cricket and that too in Chinnaswamy Stadium, there is only name which echoes throughout the game and that is none other than Virat Kohli.
The current RCB director of cricket Mo Bobat revealed the role which Virat Kohli is playing in the franchise and acknowledged his work athecs in the IPL. Kohli had a dream run in the 2016 IPL edition, where he won the “Orange Cap” for scoring a record 973 runs, which is the most by any batter in the history of IPL.
The Bengaluru-based franchise had an amateur start during the IPL 2024 after watching what Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders did in the season. Both sides had an aggressive-approach in the season which took them into the finals.
Bobat noticed that how Kohli was eager to display his batting class and wanted to take initiative to attack the bowlers from the very first ball.
“Virat scored runs throughout the competition, even in that initial period when we weren’t getting results. But even he, midway through, said, “Right, I’m going to lead the way here, we can all be more aggressive.” it was brilliant to see him talk that through with the rest of the batting group and back his words up with action. I’ve got no doubt that he’ll want to maintain that moving forward,” Mo Bobat said in an interview with ESPN Cricinfo.
Kohli’s Stats in IPL 2024
Kohli ended up being the highest run-getter in the season with scoring 741 runs in 15 matches at an average of 61.75.
