New Delhi: Iker Casillas apologised clarifying a social media post that implied he was gay and claimed his profile had been “hacked.”
A post from the Real Madrid legend received over 200,000 likes in just one hour. It has now been removed, though Spain has claimed he was joking about the whole affair.
Spanish football legend Iker Casillas earlier announced that he is “gay” and urged people to “respect” him to be a gay person.

The footballer took to Twitter to make the announcement. It comes just over a year after he and his wife separated.
In March 2021, the former goalie’s long-time partner, Sara Carbonero, acknowledged that she and her lover had “chosen separate ways,” but they would still remain in touch to carry on the “marvellous job” of raising their two children.

In response to the outpouring of support for Casillas, former Spain teammate Carles Puyol wrote: “Iker, it’s time to share our story.” with the emojis for a kiss and a heart.
He informed his followers via Twitter, however, his Instagram and Facebook pages did not carry the same message.
