ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, WI vs BAN: The West Indies women follow through on a dominating win over Scotland and have Bangladesh on the way towards ensuring that they continue with their winning ways. With a necessity to stay within the top two of Group B, Bangladesh doesn’t appear to be underrated under the conditions of play here at Sharjah where it plays to the strengths of their bowling lineup, which is looking at a qualification lifeline at stake. It’s certainly every indication of a convincing West Indies outfit set to build consistency.
West Indies took a heavy thrashing from South Africa in the opener, but bounced back impressively against Scotland, which improved their net run rate and fetched them the second spot in the group. There is, however, cause for concern about the lack of runs from the top order, especially Hayley Matthews. The captain will want to lead by example to get into the game. Positive performances from Qiana Joseph and Deandra Dottin, combined with a well-disciplined bowling effort, present a great base for the team as they look to again deliver as a unit.
Bangladesh Looking To Improve Itself
Bangladesh started well by beating Scotland but were helpless against England and they gave a tough fight to Heather Knight’s side. Bangladeshi batting has been the weak link so far in the campaign. Sobhana Mostary of Bangladesh has been the highlight, scoring 36 and 44 respectively. Bangladeshi bowling has been quite effective. Bangladesh needs an improvement in batting performances if they want to disturb Group B.

Teams And Probables
West Indies
In their last match, Hayley Matthews’s team made two changes, bringing in Ashmini Munisar and Chedean Nation while resting Zaida James, who sustained a facial injury, and omitting Shamilia Connell. Given Munisar’s role as a spinner, it’s likely she will be retained for the upcoming game, and the West Indies may stick with the same lineup.
