Poor Batting Performance By India
India failed to have an excellent beginning to their chase as they lost Shafali Verma for just 20 runs. Mandhana scored a mere 6, and Jemimah Rodrigues could score only 16. It was eventually going to be the captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma who were to hold the innings together, as no support was available to them.
Deepti Sharma was eventually dismissed on 29 runs, and Harmanpreet couldn’t get anyone along with her. Therefore, the batting line-up of India crumbled and resulted in a score of 142 runs in the allotted 20 overs.

Australia Sets A Tough Target
India was able to restrict the hosts to 151 runs for 8 wickets earlier in the match. Renuka Singh and Deepti Sharma, each picked up 2 wickets for India, which indeed was a good bowling display. For Australia, Grace Harris played the innings best with 40 runs from her 41 deliveries. Skipper Tahlia McGrath and Ellyse Perry too had made more significant contributions by scoring 32 runs apiece.
Injury Woes For India
Adding to India’s woeful state of affairs, Asha Shobhana got injured before the toss warm-up and they thrust Radha Yadav into the playing XI. This double whammy went haywire for the Indian plans and now they were back against the mighty Australians.
The defeat has further narrowed down India’s chances to reach the semi-finals and Australia consolidated its position for the knockout stage.
