A remarkable milestone was set in the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup when India’s Gongadi Trisha became the first player to score a century in the tournament’s history. Her historic innings came against Scotland in a Super Sixes match at Kuala Lumpur’s Bayuemas Oval.
Trisha’s masterful performance saw her reach 100 runs off just 53 balls, eventually finishing unbeaten on 110 from 59 deliveries, including 13 fours and four sixes. This score surpassed the previous tournament record of 93, set by England’s Grace Scrivens against Ireland in Potchefstroom in 2023.

Her explosive batting helped India post an imposing total of 208 for one. She shared a substantial opening partnership of 147 runs with G Kamalini, who contributed 51 runs before falling to Maisie Maceira in the 14th over.
The 19-year-old has been in exceptional form lately, having just finished as the top run-scorer in the Under-19 Women’s Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur. There, she amassed 159 runs across five matches at an average of 53 and a strike-rate of 120.45, contributing to India’s undefeated run to the title. She’s currently leading the run-scoring charts in the ongoing T20 World Cup as well.

Trisha was also part of India’s victorious Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup campaign, where she scored 116 runs at an average of 23.20, including a half-century against Scotland in Benoni.
