New Delhi: New Zealand’s batter Kane Williamson dethrone England’s Joe Root to claim the crown of number one Test batter in the world in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) ranking. Joe Root slipped from first to fifth position after his dry runs of 10 and 18 in the Lord’s Test against Australia.

Williamson tops ICC Test ranking
Williamson, who has 883 points claimed the top spot for the first time since August 2021. Australia’s star batter Steve Smith is on the verge of claiming the top position. Smith ranking boosted after his impressive hundred at the Lord and he is only one rating points behind Kane Williamson. Smith had 882 points.
Australian batter are dominating the top 10 of the ranking. Apart from Smith, Marnus Labuschagne (3rd), Travis Head (4th) and Usman Khawaja (7th) also featured on the list.
From England’s camp opener Ben Duckett, who scored 98 & 83 in the Lord’s Test, has moved up 24 places to 18th spot. Skipper Ben Stokes also climbed nine spots to 23rd after his superb 155 on Day 5 of the same Test.
