Rules Changes in Cricket

The Marylebone Cricket Club has amended the rules 27.4 and 28.6 to prevent unnecessary movement from the fielding team. Earlier, according to this rule, any inappropriate (deliberate) attempt to distract the batsman while the bowler was bowling was declared a dead ball. Therefore, it affects the performance of the batsman and from now on, MCC will consider it deliberate obstruction and would be considered wrong.

Under this rule, any unreasonable and intentional attempt to distract the batsman while the bowler is bowling, the umpire can declare that ball as a balled ball. Not only this, now according to the new rule, the umpire will also give a penalty of 5 runs to the batting side.
