The Cape Town Test win had also taken India to the top of the World Test Championship points table. Such a drop in the rankings came out as an unexpected surprise for Rohit Sharma’s men.
Who came out on top?
Until recently, both India and Australia were at par with 118 points each in the latest Test rankings. However, recent developments, possibly due to India’s disappointing loss and subsequent impressive victory, seem to have shifted the balance unfavorably for India. The Indian team experienced a one-point deduction, dropping them to 117 points. Consequently, this has led to Team India slipping to the second position in the Test team rankings. Meanwhile, England holds the third position, followed by South Africa in fourth, and New Zealand in fifth place.
