In the latest update from cricket’s governing body on Wednesday, February 21, India has once again asserted its dominance in the ICC Test bowlers’ rankings. Jasprit Bumrah retains his top position, while Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have seen upward movement.

Jadeja has climbed three spots to sit at sixth place in the Test bowlers’ rankings following his standout performance in the Rajkot Test against England. His impressive display included claiming 7 wickets and scoring a century against Ben Stokes’ team, contributing significantly to India’s commanding victory by 434 runs.

Meanwhile, India’s premier spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has ascended one spot to secure the second position, just behind Jasprit Bumrah. Ashwin recently reached the milestone of 500 Test wickets, becoming only the second Indian player to achieve this remarkable feat.

Although Ashwin had to briefly withdraw during the Rajkot Test, he rejoined the team after a day’s rest. In his absence, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Siraj made impactful contributions, dismantling the English batting lineup.

Top 10 Bowlers

In the top 10 rankings, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada currently holds the third position, while Australians Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood occupy the fourth and fifth spots respectively. Sri Lanka’s Prabath Jayasuriya sits at seventh place. James Anderson has slipped one spot to eighth, Nathan Lyon maintains his ninth position, and Kyle Jamieson has dropped two places to round out the top 10.

Further changes in the ICC rankings are anticipated next month as Australia and New Zealand clash in a two-match Test series. The upcoming trans-Tasman rivalry promises thrilling action and serves as the final international engagement for both teams before the T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament, slated to begin immediately after the Indian Premier League, will be co-hosted by the Caribbean Islands and the United States of America.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
