New Delhi: After winning the One Day International (ODI) series by 2-1 against India, Australia claimed the number one spot in the International Cricket Council (ICC) ODI rankings. Australia won the last and decisive match at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday by 21 runs.

Australia top ODI rankings
With this victory, Australia dethroned team India by rating of less than 1 point as Steave Smith and Co rating points rose to 113.286. Meanwhile, India’s rating points stands at 112.638. Before the match India were on the top with 114 points and Australia was on 112 points.
New Zealand is on the third position followed by England (fourth) both the World Cup 2019 finalist teams are not far behind from each other as both the teams share 111 points individually. Pakistan is on the fifth place with 106 points.
Bangladesh is on the sixth place with 95 points. The Bengal Tigers are ahead of Sri Lanka (88) points and West Indies (72). Afghanistan is on the 10th position with71 points.

After winning the toss Australia’s skipper Steve Smith decided to bat first. While batting first Australia posted the target of 269. Leg-spinner Adam Zampa was the star of the match, with 4 wickets of 45 runs. Mitchell Marsh was the highest run scorer for Australia as he scored 47 runs.
India failed to chase down the target despite of Virat Kohli’s half-century. All-rounder Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav scalped 3-wickets each, while Mohammed Siraj and Axar Patel claimed two wickets each.
