The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has moved up and clinched the second spot in the ICC ODI players rankings. These rankings came after his significant performance in the recent three match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Team India lost the series against Sri Lanka to 2-0 with the first ODI that ended up in a tie. Since 1997, this is the first time India has lost ODI series against Sri Lanka. This clearly left a huge impact which took Rohit Sharma up the chart. He scored 167 runs in three ODIs which included two half-centuries.

One of the most surprising player that was seen to move up was Pathum Nissanka, the opener from Sri Lanka. He moved up to the 8th spot after hitting 101 runs in the ODI series. Virat Kohli still remains at the 4th spot and the rankings is currently being led by Pakistan’s Babar Azam.

The South Africa captain Temba Bavuma unlocked a new milestone as he landed up at the 16th place. Another player from South Africa was Keshav Maharaj, a spinner who picked 8 wickets in the Tests and was settled at the 21st spot.
